Holding both an art museum and an art school, the Flint Institute of Arts provides options for art enthusiasts to both enjoy and create works of art. Its collection of art has pieces from around the world, with particularly extensive collections of 15th to 18th century European and American art, Impressionist and Post-Impressionist pieces and a celebrated outdoor sculpture garden. Classes are provided for children as young as four, and daytime and evening classes for adults are offered in a wide range of mediums and for a variety of artistic abilities. Just one of the facilities in the Flint Cultural Center, the institute sits beside Mott Community College, across the street from the Sloan Museum.
